Located in the heart of the countryside along Iceland’s southern coast, Hotel Eldhestar is dedicated to the breeding of Icelandic horses—strong and friendly animals that you will have the opportunity to meet.

Its unique location, close to the town of Hveragerdi yet isolated among lava fields, makes it the ideal place for Northern Lights observation in winter.

No need for a coach to admire the auroras dancing in the sky.

Another highlight: Eldhestar was the first hotel in Iceland to receive the Nordic Swan eco-certification and has since been awarded two additional prizes for its environmental commitment.

DAY 2 | SNOWMOBILE SAFARI / GULLFOSS / GEYSIR / GEOTHERMAL BAKERY (approx. 165 KM)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Start the day with a snowmobile safari on the eastern slope of Langjökull glacier. Board a monster truck with oversized wheels to reach the summit of Iceland’s second-largest glacier—thrills guaranteed! After a safety briefing and instructions, ride your snowmobile (2 people per snowmobile – drivers must hold a valid driving licence) and enjoy breathtaking landscapes and panoramic views over Icelandic plains.

Optional lunch.

Continue to the impressive Gullfoss waterfall. The “Golden Falls” take their name from the golden rainbow that often appears above the gorge in clear weather. While not Iceland’s highest waterfall, it is certainly one of its most majestic.

Proceed to the geothermal area of Geysir. The most famous geyser, which gave its name to the phenomenon, is now dormant, leaving Strokkur as the only active geyser in the area. Erupting every 5 to 7 minutes on average, it offers a spectacular natural show.

End the day with a visit to the Fontana geothermal bakery in Laugarvatn. Walk to a black sand beach where you will dig up rye bread baked underground the day before, in soil reaching temperatures up to 98°C. Taste this traditional bread served with butter and Icelandic smoked fish. Return to your hotel.

If weather conditions allow, your guide may take you around the hotel to observe the Northern Lights.

DAY 3 | THE SOUTH COAST (approx. 290 KM)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Discover Iceland’s south coast, starting with the stunning Skogafoss waterfall. If weather permits, climb the staircase alongside the waterfall to reach the top. On sunny days, rainbows are often visible.

Continue to Solheimajökull glacier, where you may approach the glacier tongue and touch the ice. This glacier sits between mountains and an opaque meltwater basin. The ice layers reveal ash deposits from past volcanic eruptions over millennia.

Proceed to the charming village of Vik and its iconic church.

Optional lunch.

Continue to Reynisfjara, famous for its black sand beach and basalt column formations resembling organ pipes. Offshore rock formations evoke a sci-fi landscape.

Final stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, spectacular and unique, allowing visitors to walk behind its curtain of water (weather permitting). In winter, the stairs and paths are often covered in ice, creating a surreal atmosphere.

If weather allows, your guide may also take you out in the evening to observe the Northern Lights.

DAY 4 | THINGVELLIR / REYKJAVIK / SECRET LAGOON

Breakfast at the hotel.

Start with Thingvellir National Park, a key historical site where Iceland’s parliament, the Alþing, was founded in 930—one of the oldest parliaments in the world. Here you can observe the rift between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. This geological activity is also visible in the Silfra fissure, where crystal-clear waters offer visibility of several dozen meters underwater.

Then head to Reykjavik for a panoramic city tour. Discover the city’s highlights including the striking Hallgrimskirkja church, the lively Laugavegur street, and the Harpa concert hall—an architectural masterpiece.

Optional lunch.

End the day with a swim in the natural spring of Flúðir known as the Secret Lagoon. Built in 1891, it is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. Generations of locals have bathed here. The water remains between 38°C and 40°C year-round. Walkways around the pool allow visitors to observe the geothermal activity feeding it. Nestled in the countryside, it is the perfect place to relax in nature. Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel.

If weather allows, your guide may take you out in the evening to observe the Northern Lights.

Along the way, discover remote areas and stop at a geothermal spring where your guide will show you how underground heat can cook eggs and warm hot chocolate. Warm winter clothing required. Light lunch provided by local guides (optional activity).

Optional lunch.

In the afternoon, join an easy walk in the small town of Hveragerdi with your tour guide. Hiking boots and crampons recommended.
