Date:
August 29th to September 5th 2026 – 6 spots left.
Itinerary
DAY 1 : ARRIVAL IN WHITEHORSE
Upon arrival in Whitehorse, you take the free shuttle to get to your hotel (right there when you exit the terminal). Note that we always try and book hotels which offer free shuttle but in case there is no more availability, there are always taxis available to drive you downtown (count approximately $25 for a ride from the airport to your hotel). Depending on your arrival time, you will have time to explore Whitehorse and take a stroll on the Millennium Trail or check out the MacBride Museum.
A pre-trip meeting takes place in the lobby of your hotel at 5pm today with your guides. This is the perfect opportunity to ask any last-minute questions about your hiking adventure, do a gear check and meet your fellow adventurers!
Night in a hotel in Whitehorse.
DAY 2 : TRAVEL AND FIRST CAMP
We meet this morning and together we drive West towards Haines Junction and Kluane National Park. After about 1 hour on the road, we arrive in the small village of Champagne and stop at Long Ago Peoples Place where you step back in time and learn about Southern Tutchone culture. After the visit, we keep on driving all the way to Haines Junction. From this small community, we fly out by helicopter to our first camp. As we fly we leave civilization behind and discover the Yukon wilderness below us and, to the west, the magnificent mountains of Kluane National Park. Once the helicopter has gone back, we set up our first base camp and depending on the time of day we have left, we go hiking around camp before dinner.
Lunch and Dinner.
Night in a tent.
DAYS 3-6 : TREK IN THE RUBY RANGE
For five days, we explore the Ruby Range on day hikes, coming back to camp each night. We have two base camps during this adventure, the first one for two nights and the second one for three. You discover beautiful views of Kluane National Park and will follow bison tracks that are all over the place! We keep our eyes peeled for wildlife such as caribou, moose, Dall sheep and maybe even grizzly, wolves or of course bison!
The itinerary is designed to make this trek a fun adventure for intermediate as well as more experienced hikers. In fact, just like a normal backpacking adventure we hike in a new area each day but with the comfort of a light pack (5 to 8 kg). We hike approximately 5 hours each day and the elevation gain will range from 300m to 900m. Terrain varies greatly from alpine meadows to rocky slopes to side hilling and even bushwhacking. As no man-made trails can be found up there, the only trails we follow are the ones made by the bison themselves and when no trails are to be found at all we navigate using maps, compass and our guide’s knowledge of the area.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nights in a tent.

DAY 7 : RETURN TO WHITEHORSE
On the afternoon of day 6 the helicopter comes back to get us again and we fly back to Haines Junction. We will then drive back to Whitehorse that afternoon and you have a free evening in town.
Breakfast and lunch.
Night in a hotel in Whitehorse.
DAY 8 : DEPARTURE
We will drive to the airport for your return flight.
